Caroline Hyne

Neurological Physiotherapist

Caroline qualified as a physiotherapist in 2003 with BSc (Hons) from Oxford Brookes University. From the beginning of her physiotherapy career, she has been keen to make the most of all opportunities to influence her clinical practice and during her undergraduate study was awarded a scholarship placement with Polytechnic University in Hong Kong, during which she treated a variety of conditions in an outpatient clinic.

On qualifying, Caroline worked at Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Trust, gaining a broad range of physiotherapy experience. She came to Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2005 to work as a senior rotational physiotherapist within neurology, the area in which she has always wanted to specialise. This meant experience in all the neurological physiotherapy provisions in Oxfordshire that included Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Stroke Unit at John Radcliffe Hospital, Stroke Unit at Horton Hospital, and Neurological Rehabilitation Service at Oxford Centre for Enablement. Caroline went on to the role of physiotherapy team leader in Neurology and Neurosurgery at John Radcliffe Hospital. During all these posts, Caroline has undertaken regular teaching, peer support, and supervision of staff and students. Caroline went into community work in 2012, joining the Physical Disability Physiotherapy Service which provides physiotherapy support for people with long-term neurological conditions. Throughout all these clinical settings, Caroline has established excellent working relationships with all health professionals and those working in the wider community.

Caroline believes strongly in evidence based practice, and as such keeps her skills and knowledge current, through attendance of relevant courses, and active membership of ACPIN (Association of Chartered Physiotherapists with Interest in Neurology).

Prior to her physiotherapy degree, Caroline studied Music at Southampton University (BAMus 1998) and still enjoys music when she has the opportunity, amidst a busy family life. She enjoys taking part in challenges for charity, and most recently completed the Lake District 10 Peaks Challenge to raise money for National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society and MS Trust.
