Podiatry

Musculoskeletal Podiatry is the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of biomechanical conditions primarily affecting the lower limbs. Such conditions may lead to acute or long-term problems and may also be referred to as over-use injury.

Podiatrists who are trained in musculoskeletal practice are able to identify the cause and origin of lower limb dysfunction. We can therefore often help resolve many conditions that make walking, running and standing an unpleasant experience. Treatment can involve mobilisations, running advice, stability and exercise programs, shoe advice, shoe adaptations and foot orthoses (orthotics). In order to obtain the best outcome for our patients we will often work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Podiatrists often prescribe foot orthoses as part of their treatment and management plans. Unlike most podiatrists we believe in using functional foot orthoses as part of a planned rehabilitation program to assist in performance enhancement and allow faster recovery. Due to the unique way that we prescribe foot orthoses in our clinic we are often able to prescribe a device on your initial appointment. This allows treatment to commence earlier and improve patient outcomes.
